How does it work?

The SendGrid Contacts connector links your SendGrid Marketing Campaigns contacts with the other apps your business relies on, such as Microsoft 365, Outlook, Google Contacts, HubSpot, Pipedrive and many more. You can sync your whole SendGrid contact database or just one contact list, in one direction or both. SyncPenguin carries names, emails, phone numbers, addresses, social handles and your own SendGrid custom fields. Things to note

• SendGrid stores one primary email, one phone number and one address per contact. If the other app has several, only the main (work) one is synced.
• SendGrid identifies contacts by email address. If you change a contact's email, SyncPenguin treats it as a different contact.
• SendGrid processes contact changes in the background, so updates made in SendGrid may take a few minutes before they are picked up by the next sync.
• Large SendGrid contact databases take longer to check for changes, because SendGrid provides updates through a contact export.
• When a contact list is selected, removing a contact from that list is detected and can be synced as a deletion. Contacts fully deleted from SendGrid are not detected automatically, so remove contacts from the synced list instead if you want deletions to sync.
• When syncing a specific list, deleting a contact from the other side removes it from that SendGrid list. The contact stays in your SendGrid account.
• Only text, number and date custom fields are supported, which covers all custom field types SendGrid offers.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I connect my SendGrid account to SyncPenguin?

Create an API key in your SendGrid account settings that has access to Marketing (contacts) features, then paste it into SyncPenguin when connecting SendGrid. You can then optionally choose a contact list to sync.

Can I sync only one SendGrid contact list instead of all contacts?

Yes. When you select a contact list, SyncPenguin syncs only the contacts in that list and automatically adds new contacts to it. If you don't select a list, your entire SendGrid contact database is synced.

Will syncing create duplicate contacts in SendGrid?

No. SendGrid contacts are matched by email address, so if a contact with the same email already exists, SyncPenguin updates it instead of creating a new one. Initial merge options also help match existing records when you start a sync.

Does SyncPenguin support SendGrid custom fields?

Yes. Your SendGrid custom text, number and date fields appear in SyncPenguin automatically. You can map them to fields in your other apps or set them with no-code rules.

Can I sync SendGrid contacts in both directions?

Yes. You can set up one-way syncing, for example from your CRM to SendGrid, or two-way syncing so changes made in either app are kept in sync.

How often are SendGrid contacts synced?

SyncPenguin checks for changes automatically on a regular schedule. Because SendGrid processes contact updates in the background, changes made in SendGrid may take a few minutes to appear in the other app.

Can I control which contacts are sent to SendGrid?
