Things to note
- Each connection syncs one Mailchimp audience. To sync several audiences, connect each one separately and add it to your sync.
- Mailchimp stores one email address, one phone number and one address per contact, so only one of each is synced. Work entries are preferred when the other app has several.
- An email address is required to create a contact in Mailchimp, so records without an email are skipped.
- New contacts are added as 'Subscribed' unless you map a status or set one with a custom rule. Make sure your contacts have agreed to receive marketing emails.
- Because of Mailchimp restrictions, email address changes are applied only to contacts with 'Subscribed' status.
- Member rating and source are provided by Mailchimp and can be read and used in rules, but they cannot be changed through syncing.
- Custom merge fields and the address field are not mapped automatically, but you can map them in a few clicks in the field mapping settings.
- Archived contacts are synced with an 'Archived' status, which you can use in filters or deletion rules. Contacts permanently deleted in Mailchimp are not detected as deletions.
- The first sync of a very large audience may take longer, because contacts are loaded gradually to respect Mailchimp's API limits.
